While the 1951 New York Yankees season was notable for yet another World Series championship, another factor made it a unique season in Bronx folklore. If American League pitchers were pleased that Joe DiMaggio was in his final year in pinstripes, they were unaware that a rookie named Mickey Mantle was a budding legend in his own right. This offered 8 ½ x 11 inch sheet with three holes punched on the side feature 18 signatures from the 1951 World Champion New York Yankees. Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle and Bill Dickey have signed their name, both in blue pen. Mantle’s signatures and the “Bill D” of Dickey’s signature are covered in tape. Other signatures that are covered in tape include Frank Crosetti, Fred Sanford and Ed Lopez, with those three signed in blue pen. Other signatures include in blue pen Joe Ostrowski, Tom Morgan, Bobby Brown, Cliff Mapes, Bob Kuzava, Jerry Coleman and Vic Raschi. The remaining signatures are signed in black and include Tom Morgan (second signature), Stubby Overmire, Jim Kramer and Gil McDougald. On the reverse is a lone signature of an unidentified player. This sheet displays toning and has been repaired with the aforementioned tape, along with various dirt spots and other blemishes. There is edge wear, along with other markings – please see photographs to evaluate condition. This multi-signed sheet comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC02649).
