Presented here is an autographed photograph of Joe DiMaggio, the great “Yankee Clipper”. The first great Yankee after Ruth and Gehrig, DiMaggio helped lead the Yankees to nine World Series titles in his 13 seasons. An All-Star in every season he played, DiMaggio was a legendary figure around baseball during his lifetime. In 1955 he was honored with induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
This photograph measures 11 x 14 inches and is sepia colored. DiMaggio is pictured halfway up the first base line, standing above a mobile home plate. He is clad in his home Yankee pinstripes and holding a tan bat in his batting stance. A “HEALTH” patch is sewn on his left sleeve. An advertisement for war bonds is visible above DiMaggio’s left shoulder, indicating that this picture was likely taken in the early 1940s. DiMaggio signed this picture in blue marker. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A08227).
