Houston Astros designated hitter Carlos Beltran was issued this bright orange throwback Astros batting helmet on June 24th, 2017, during the Astros game against the Seattle Mariners. Beltran went 1-2 in this game, walking twice as the Astros earned a 5-2 victory at Safeco Field, all from the left side of the plate. Beltran did not bat right-handed during the game. The Astros went on to win the 2017 World Series, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in a thrilling seven game World Series. After the series, Beltran announced his retirement, ending a 20-season career that many think should result in a plaque on the walls of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

This orange helmet is a throwback to the Astros 1977 uniforms. These are the same uniforms worn on the now-iconic Sports Illustrated cover from 2014 that predicted, correctly, that the Astros would win the 2017 Fall Classic. An Astros blue star with a white “H” logo is applied to the front of this helmet, and Beltran’s number “15” is applied to the back of the helmet. This Rawlings helmet is a size 7 3/8, and features all of the helmet’s original padding with a left ear flap used by right-handed batters. This item comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (JC 362403), which authenticates use to the June 24th contest.
