Chick Gandil made his debut in 1910 at the tender age of 22. He was well on his way to a nice, lengthy solid career when a cheap owner and a couple gamblers got in the way. Gandil was player leader behind the 1919 Black Sox scandal and was banned for life. However, most people do not realize Gandil quit major league baseball after that 1919 Series. This card was issued when Gandil was back in the minors, playing for Montreal of the International League. The Imperial Tobacco’s are scarce as it is, but when you add the mystique of Gandil, this card is highly desirable. This is one of the key cards to this set and has been graded by PSA as EX 5, with light corner touches and well centered. A solid example of this scarce and desirable card.
