“Big Poison” was the driving force behind the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 1920’s dynasty. Often overlooked due to the more colorful and brash Yankees of Ruth and Gehrig, The Pirates boasted their own Murderer’s Row with Paul and his brother Lloyd “Little Poison” Waner wielding the team’s biggest guns. During the 6 seasons this bat dates from, Waner hit a remarkable .353, was league MVP in 1927 with a league-leading .380 average, and twice led the NL in triples and once in doubles. We don’t have to tell how rare game used bats from the Roaring 20’s are, not to mention one in this fine a condition belonging to a player as talented as Paul Waner. The Hillerich & Bradsby bat shows heavy game use with numerous cleat imprints, ball marks and stitch impressions and batting rack streaks. The bat has taken on a warm patina with age and displays beautifully. Waner is one of the tougher members of the 3000 hit club to secure a gamer from, here is your opportunity. MEARS hologram number 312958 and PSA/DNA sticker number 1B05375 are affixed to the barrel end. Letter of Opinion from MEARS who have graded this impressive bat A8.
