Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza wore this collection of catcher’s gear during the 1996 MLB season. Piazza, then with the Dodgers, was an All-Star in 1996 and the second-place finisher in the National League MVP race. Piazza put up a terrific Triple Crown slash line of .336/36/105 with a .422 OBP for the playoff-bound Dodgers. Included in this lot is a shin guard, chest protector, and facemask worn by Piazza. The shin guard is a blue, red, and white Rawlings model. The first digit of Piazza’s number “31” is applied to the shin guard. Piazza has signed this shin guard, which shows excellent wear, in silver marker. Please note that portions of Piazza’s signature have faded.

Also included in this lot is Piazza’s face mask worn circa 1996. This Wilson A3007 mask has a red face mask with blue and tan cushions. The straps are blue. The final item in this lot is Piazza’s blue and red Rawlings chest protector. Piazza has signed the upper chest of the chest protector in black marker. This item comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (4A10580). Each item in this lot comes with a LOA from JT Sports for game use.
