Souvenir items from the Negro Leagues are extremely scarce due to their fans not having the disposable income to spend on such things. That’s what makes this attractive pennant so desirable, coupled with it representing the greatest franchise in Blackball, the Homestead Grays. Winner of 11 Negro National League championships, this pennant dates from their glory years when giants Josh Gibson, Buck Leonard, Cool Papa Bell and Sam Bankhead wore the Grays uniform. The felt pennant is in good condition with a few stains visible, most notably on the top corner of the white edge. The edges of the black felt pennant exhibit an irregular, wavy cut. Unlike most of these pennants, this example does not appear to have pin holes in the corners and all 4 tassels are still attached. The silk screened colors are still strong and bright. A superior piece of contemporary memorabilia from the heyday of the Negro Leagues.
