Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa followed up the record-breaking, home run crazed 1998 season with another tremendous season. Starting off the year with being invited as President Clinton’s guest at the State of the Union Address, “Slammin’ Sammy” ended the season with 63 home runs, two shy of Mark McGwire’s total. The Louisville Slugger I13 bat shows excellent use with a repaired handle crack. Ball and stitch marks can be seen on the barrel and blue ink transfers are visible. A very light coat of pine tar can be seen on the upper handle. An impression from a weighted donut is evident on the barrel and the handle base has been wrapped in black adhesive tape for an enhanced grip. Sosa’s number “21” and model number “I13” is marked on both ends in silver ink. Sosa has signed the bat’s barrel in silver ink and added his number “21”. 2 PSA/DNA numbered stickers (U28093 and 1B05320) are affixed to the barrel end. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
