The first book was signed by 1960 National League MVP Dick Groat, who signed and inscribed this hardcover copy of his book The World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates. Groat has signed the first page of this book in blue pen, inscribing “To Clyde- Best Regards” above his signature. Please note that one page of this book is not attached to the binding. This book comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AD09434). The second book is a hardcover copy of The Cincinnati Reds: An Informal History by Lee Allen has been signed by eight legendary members of the Reds. The first page of this book has been signed by Ewell Blackwell, Bob Purkey, Brooks Lawrence, Frank Baumholtz, Jim O’Toole, Johnny Vander Meer, Lee Allen, and Luke Sewell. The signatures have been written in black pen, black marker, blue pen, and blue marker. “April 20, 1948” is written on the first page in an unknown hand. The third book is a hardcover copy of The New York Giants by Frank Graham has been signed by a pair of legendary Giants. The Hall of Famer Monte Irvin has signed the first page of the book in blue pen, inscribing “HOF 73” below his signature. The second signature in this book belongs to Al Dark, who has also signed his name in blue pen. Signatures include the Hall of Famers Carl Hubbell and Leo Durocher, as well as Eddie Stanky, Roger Bowman, Al Dark, Joe Lafata, Jack Lohrke, Ray Mueller, Don Mueller, Nap Reyes, Rudy Rufer, Lou Sleater, Fred Smith, Hank Thompson, and Wes Westrum. The fifth book is a hardcover copy of The St. Louis Cardinals: The Story of a Great Baseball Club by Frederick G. Lieb has been signed by five legendary members of the St. Louis Cardinals. The signatures, written on the first page of the book, include the Hall of Famers Stan Musial and Enos Slaughter, as well as Whitey Kurowski, Marty Marion, and Harry “The Hat” Walker. The final book in this lot is a hardcover copy of The Boston Braves by Harold Kaese has been signed by a pair of legendary Braves, as well as Kaese himself. John Sain and Earl Torgeson have signed this book, with the inscription “To Bill Huefner” written above Sain’s signature. All three have signed this book in blue pen.
