On September 29, 1963 Stan Musial finished his 22-year career with a two-for-two day against the Cincinnati Reds. Taken out of the game for a pinch runner, the 27,000 St. Louis fans gave Stan The Man a tremendous applause as he left the field for the last time. National League umpire Bill Williams knew he was witnessing history and saved a ball used in the game upon which he had Stan Musial sign along with the umpire crew who worked the game. The Warren Giles Official National League ball has been signed below the Spalding logo in blue ink by Musial with the notation “last game”. Umpires Bill Williams, Ed Vargo, Lee Weyer and Hall of Famer Al Barlick have added their signatures throughout the nicely toned ball. The notation “CREW WHO WORKED STAN MUSIAL’S LAST PRO GAME - OCT - 1963 marks the significance of the ball. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
