Cincinnati Reds shortstop Didi Gregorius wore this red Reds batting helmet during his rookie year of 2012. This was Gregorius’ only season in the Big Leagues with Cincinnati, with the Amsterdam native appearing in eight games, making this possibly Gregorius’ first ever MLB batting helmet and the helmet in which he got his first-career hit on September 9th, 2012. This helmet, which has a flap over the right ear, is a size 7 3/8, with all of the interior padding present. Gregorius has signed the right side of the helmet in silver marker, adding his Yankees number “18” to his signature. This helmet comes with a LOA from the Cincinnati Reds and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 182580), which calls the helmet “team issued”, a common designation for items collected after the end of the regular season. There is also a COA from Beckett Authentication Services for the signature.
