For Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, his efforts and results on the court are virtually un-paralleled. Off the court, Kareem was more than willing to donate his time and money for worthy causes. In 2011, the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory presented him with this offered double helix medal in recognition of his efforts to raise millions of dollars for cancer research. Beautifully encased in a 6 x 6 flip-open wooden box, this 3-inch round gold-plated medal reds “COLD SPRINGS HARBOR LABORATORY”, “DOUBLE HELIX MEDAL” and “GENETICS 1890 RESEARCH” on the front. Engraved on the back is “KAREEM ABDUL-JABARR 2011”. The medal sits in a red velvet holder and the top of the box has a gold plate that has engraved “Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Double Helix Medal presented to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 2011”. A wonderful token given to a man who exemplifies excellence both on and off the court. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
