One of the most thrilling and steady players of the 1960’s and 70’s, Rose consistently led the National League in hits as he climbed the ladder to Ty Cobb’s career hits record. The face of Cincinnati’s “Big Red Machine”, Rose hit a combined .315 with 610 hits during the years this bat dates to. The Hillerich & Bradsby R195 bat shows great game use and is uncracked. Looking at the barrel you can see the marks from some of Rose’s hits as he chased Ty Cobb’s hit record - ball scuffs, black ink transfers, stitch impressions and cleat marks. Rose has covered the middle handle with a light coat of pine tar and as he did to all his bats in the late 1970’s, the finish has been removed from parts of the barrel. Pete’s famous “14” is hand written on the knob end in black marker. Rose has signed the barrel in his exquisite script and proudly added that magic number, “#4256”. Guarantee of Authenticity signed by Pete Rose and Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have given this superb Pete Rose bat a score of GU 8.5.
