An unbelievable game used bat from Hall of Fame player and manager Frankie Frisch. This Spalding bat dates from his earliest and finest seasons with John McGraw’s old New York Giants during which they won the World Series twice with ball clubs that usually boasted an average of 7 or 8 Hall of Famers in the lineup. Frisch quickly made himself a fixture on those teams with his fancy fielding and timely hitting. Called the “Fordham Flash” because of his college career, Frisch learned the game at the feet of McGraw, the NL’s greatest manager. Frisch later went on to put McGraw’s wisdom to good use as manager of the Gas House Game Cardinals of the 1930’s. Game used equipment from pre-war Hall of Famers are scarce as it is, but this particular bat can be attributed to one of the most popular players from the Giants’ greatest teams. Frisch’s Spalding Autograph Model bat shows excellent use. The handle is uncracked and the barrel exhibits many ball and stitch impressions. Cleat imprints from Frisch’s illustrious teammates can be seen and Frankie has taped the handle to enhance his grip. The knob end has the circular SPALDING logo stamped in it and the lower barrel has Frisch’s facsimile signature burned in the wood. The bat has taken on a warm and attractive coloration with age. One of the finest pre-war bats available with genuine game use from a New York Giants Hall of Famer. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have graded this rare bat GU 8.5.
