Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby has signed this handwritten letter dating to 1962. Hornsby, one of the greatest offensive second baseman in baseball history, hit .358 over his legendary career, peaking with an average of .424 in 1924. On this letter, Hornsby has written “Dear Max I received plane tickets today. Will leave Chicago Sox Jan 10th 7am United arrive by 955am. Will go to Roosevelt Hotel. Looking forward to seeing all the fellows. Sincerely, Rogers Hornsby”. Hornsby wrote “Jan 10th, 1962” on the upper right hand corner. Hornsby would pass away almost exactly one year later, on January 5th, 1963. This letter has been written in blue pen, and it has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (84104105), who have graded Hornsby’s signature a fantastic MINT 9.
