George Foster was the starting left fielder for the Big Red Machine as the Cincinnati Reds won back to back championships in 1975 and 1976. Foster’s next season of 1977 saw him win the NL's MVP Award. His 50 home runs made him only the 10th man in Major League history to reach that mark and his 149 RBI led the National League. Foster narrowly missed out on the Triple Crown, falling short of the batting title by a measly .018. This offered Hillerich & Bradsby P72 model bat was used by Foster during the 1977-79 seasons and shows outstanding game use, with a very slight crack on the handle. The barrel exhibits checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact, with ball marks and stitch impressions present on the barrel. There are cleat imprints and green bat rack streaks and Foster's number "15" is hand written on the knob. Foster signed his name in gold marker on the barrel and inscribed “NL MVP 1977” and “#15”. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13240) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9. There is also a COA from JSA (AA07276) for his signature.
