After the Florida Marlins began the 2003 season with only 16 wins in their first 38 games, manager Jeff Torborg was replaced by Jack McKeon. All the Marlins did after that was go 75-49 the rest of the way to earn a spot in the postseason. There, the Marlins defeated the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs, before winning the World Series in six games over the New York Yankees. Mike Lowell hit 32 home runs with 105 runs batted in during the season while Derrek Lee had 31 HRs and 92 RBIs. Juan Pierre batted .305, scored 100 runs and stole 65 bases. Starting pitcher Dontrelle Willis went 14-6 with a 3.30 ERA.

Presented here is a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series prototype ring manufactured by Jostens. This is a base metal ring without any stones, featuring a team logo and “MARLINS” across the front, with “WORLD CHAMPIONS” on the outer perimeter. One side displays the 2003 World Series logo, Florida’s 91-71 regular season record, and opponents and results of the postseason. A championship trophy appears on the opposite side between a listing of the year 2003, along with the name “LORIA” at the top and “OWNER” at the bottom. This item is an approximate size 10 and weighs approximately 86.4 grams.
