The 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics were the first to allow professional basketball players from the NBA into Olympic competition, leading to the United States compiling what may be, pound-for-pound, the greatest basketball team ever assembled. Led by the mercurial superstar Michael Jordan, the United States team also boasted the Hall of Famers Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, John Stockton, and the best player in the NCAA, Christian Laettner.

The United States entered the tournament as overwhelming favorites, and from their first game it was clear who would win the gold medal. Michael Jordan and company opened the Olympics with a 68-point victory over an overmatched Angola team. Throughout the tournament, the United States had an average margin of victory of 44 points, topped off with a 117-85 victory over a Croatia team boasting the talents of Drazen Petrovic, Dino Radja, and Toni Kukoc. Charles Barkley led Team USA in scoring with an even 18 points per game, while Michael Jordan added 14.9 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.9 steals per game. Larry Bird played in all eight games for the Dream Team, and they would be his final eight games as a professional before he announced his retirement in mid-August of 1992.

Offered here is a complete set of game used home Team USA jerseys. These offered jerseys were individually given to designer Jeff Hamilton in Barcelona during the 1992 Olympics by each member of the Dream Team after they were worn in a game. Hamilton, who has been a fashion designer since 1983, is best know for his designs of the leather jackets worn by members of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players during the 1997 unveiling ceremony. He has also custom-designed jackets for the likes of Michael Jackson, Bill Clinton, Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant and Jordan. Hamilton, during the 1992 Olympics was the USA Basketball and NBA’s official licensee for outerwear.

Each player is represented by one uniform, with the obvious centerpiece a game used and signed Michael Jordan jersey. This white jersey has “USA Basketball” screen printed on the chest, with Jordan’s number “9” screen printed on the chest and back in red and navy. “JORDAN” is screen printed across the back shoulders in red lettering. Jordan has signed the chest of this size “46” jersey in black marker, inscribing “Barcelona 92” in addition to his signature. This Jordan jersey's inscription that was signed "Barcelona 92" is the only known jersey in existence to have that inscription and places this jersey with Jordan at the Summer Olympics. The remaining jerseys all feature “USA Basketball” printed on the chest, with the numbers on the front and back in red and navy heat applied numbers, and the names printed on the back in red. These jerseys were worn by Larry Bird (size “46”), Christian Laettner (size “48”), Karl Malone (size “50”), David Robinson (size “46”), Scottie Pippen (size “46”), Chris Mullin (size “44”), Charles Barkley (size “50”), John Stockton (size “40”), Magic Johnson (size “44”), Clyde Drexler (size “44”), and Patrick Ewing (size “48”). These jerseys are accompanied by a LOA from USA Basketball, Letters of Provenance from Jeff Hamilton, the USA Basketball and NBA official licensee for outerwear, and a LOA from PSA/DNA for Jordan’s signature. Based on images available to us, these jerseys do not photo match to any Olympic medal games. Given the provenance of the jerseys, and the confirmation from USA Basketball and Jeff Hamilton it is likely these were used either in exhibition, practice or worn for promotional purposes by the players.
