The designer Jeff Hamilton has been a fixture in the NBA and streetwear scene since the 1980s thanks to his eye-catching leather jackets. In fact, none other than Arsenio Hall referred to Hamilton as “the emperor of leather jackets”. Here, Hamilton diverges from his traditional medium to create a series of customized Kobe Bryant jerseys in collaboration with street artists for a 2017 gallery show. This jersey, which began life as a simple Lakers home jersey, has been painted over with an abstract and colorful series of portraits on both the front and back of the jersey. Hamilton has added his own traditional touches in places. The “Lakers” wordmark across the chest is sewn on in purple reptile-skin material over white tackle twill. The back of the jersey features “KOBE” and “24” sewn on in purple reptile-skin material over white leather. An intricate design is embroidered in gold on the purple side panels of this jersey. An Adidas size “XL” tag is sewn on the front left tail. Bryant has signed the “4” digit on the back of the jersey in silver marker. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA for Bryant’s signature.
