In what will certainly go down as the best ever sixth round draft pick, quarterback Tom Brady was selected by the New England Patriots in 2000 coming out of Michigan. Brady’s run to a record eight Super Bowl appearances, five Super Bowl victories and four Super Bowl MVP’s, got off to a slow start. In 2000, Drew Bledsoe was still the franchise quarterback for coach Bill Belichick in his first season with the team. Fast-forward to 2017 and the combination of Brady and Belichick earned their record-setting fifth Super Bowl victory with an improbable comeback overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

Hard to believe, but in Belichick’s first season, the Patriots finished with a 5-11 record and Brady’s only regular season appearance in 2000 was late in the fourth quarter of the November 23rd game against the Detroit Lions at the Pontiac Silverdome, where he went 1-3 for six yards and the Patriots were routed 34-9. Offered is this Adidas home navy blue New England Patriots jersey worn by Brady during his first season in Foxboro. Despite only playing in limited action in 2000, the game experts at Mears have determined that this jersey was most likely used during the 2000 pre-season or carried over to the 2001 season. This jersey has Brady’s number “12” sewn on the front, back and shoulders in white, red and silver tackle twill. The 2000 season was the first season in which the Patriots switched to the now custom navy primary color scheme. “BRADY” is sewn on in white tackle twill on a matching navy nameplate on the back of the jersey above his number and a “PATRIOTS” is sewn on above the numbers on the front. Each sleeve has the “Elvis” Patriot logo patch, a vertical silver stripe and the NFL shield patch is sewn on the base of the V-neck. This mesh jersey has navy blue Spandex shoulders, sleeves and sides. There are team repairs present on the Spandex portion of the upper left chest and right shoulder, along with a repair between the numbers on the back of the jersey. The Adidas tag, along with “48” (size) and “00” (year) flags are sewn on the bottom front left tail. This is possibly the first ever jersey ever worn by what may be the greatest quarterback of all time and it comes with a full letter from MEARS.
