2019 Winter Auction Closing March 2
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/2/2019
A decade after winning the Rookie of the Year Award, Rod Carew won the sixth of his seven batting championships. In addition to winning the batting crown, Carew was the AL’s MVP that season, his .388 average being the highest since Ted Williams hit the same back in 1958. To commemorate his Batting Championship, Carew was presented with an exact silver replica of one of his game bats, custom engraved with “BATTING CHAMPION 1977 AMERICAN LEAGUE B.A. - .388.” The silver surface shows tarnishing from age and some abrasion scuffs and dings from display and/or storage.
