Michael Jackson wore these size 9 ½ Florsheim loafers during a promotional photo shoot for Yamaha of Japan in 1984. At the time, Yamaha had a contract with Michael and the Jackson’s for promotional work, and these shoes were obtained after said event. 1984 was also the year of the Jackson’s “Victory Tour”, the final Jackson’s tour Michael appeared on for the remainder of his life.
Jackson was a famous customer of the Florsheim brand, which illustrated a stark contrast between his over-the-top, “King of Pop” custom concert outfits and the utilitarian, simple design of the Florsheim shoe. As a child performer, Jackson learned to dance while wearing Florsheim shoes, and he continued to wear the venerable brand, founded in 1892, for the length of his performing career.
These offered black loafers are a size 9 ½. They exhibit a staid all-black color, with two textured black stripes running diagonally across each toe. A worn Florsheim logo, “26017”, “9 ½”, and “Made in Spain” is printed inside each shoe. “9014” is written in pen on the sole of the left shoe. Jackson has signed the inside of each shoe, however it must be noted that Jackson’s signature exhibits fading. These shoes come with a LOA from the security coordinator at the 1984 Yamaha event.
