Lefty Gomez, the Hall of Fame Yankees pitcher, summed up Earl Averill career by remarking that if the Indians slugger had a twin brother, there would have been no way he'd have made it to Cooperstown. In a decade of solid stats, Averill still holds the club record for runs batted in, triples, runs scored and total bases. Averill used this bat during his first three years in the majors during which he hit a combined .334 and slugged 69 home runs. PSA/DNA has determined that the combination of center brand style and the bat’s weight and length consistent with bats ordered by Averill during those 1928 to 1931 seasons. The Hillerich & Bradsby pre-model bat is un-cracked and displays excellent use. There are a few ball marks visible on the right, left and back barrel as well as cleat impressions on the left barrel. “S.S.B.W.B. Co.” has been branded into the back barrel. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12594) for the game use.
