Presented here is a photograph of 14 legendary baseball players taken at Toots Shor’s, one of the most popular restaurants in New York with ballplayers, celebrities, and wealthy socialites. The back row, from left to right, has Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Mickey Cochrane, Ed Walsh, Rogers Hornsby, Pie Traynor, and Tris Speaker standing shoulder-to-shoulder. The front row, reserved primarily for the elder statesmen, includes Fred Clarke, Arlie Latham, Cy Young, George Sisler, Charles “Kid” Nichols, Ty Cobb, and Charlie Gehringer. The eldest ballplayer in this photograph is Latham, who was born in 1860 and made his Major League debut in 1880 with the Buffalo Bisons of the National League. Latham passed away in 1952 at the age of 92. This photograph measures 11 x 14 inches and features some blue pen writing on the reverse side, as well as two stamps from the photographer, Bill Mark. This picture is a terrific display piece for any fan of the vintage game!
