Offered is a very scarce Lou Gehrig card, which, according to the reverse information, was a redemption card for Harrington’s Ice Cream. While individual cards of Babe Ruth could be redeemed for “One ice cream novelty...for each picture of Babe Ruth,” the entire set of 60 cards could be redeemed for “one gallon of Harrington’s ice cream.” It was very common in the day for redemption cards to be returned severely damaged or even destroyed, so children would not be able to redeem the same card over and over. This offered Gehrig example contains a horizontal crease which runs across the image of Gehrig, two lightly “clipped” corners plus staining on the reverse. This is a rarely seen Lou Gehrig issue, with only 12 exiting in the PSA pop report. PSA Graded PR 1.
