King Kelly was arguably the most popular 19th Century baseball player, and his HOF career combined good hitting ability, tremendous speed and unique sliding techniques which perpetuated the hit song, “Slide, Kelly, Slide.” The Buchner Gold Coin cards were issued in packages of tobacco, featuring color drawings of the greatest players of the day. Rarely resembling the actual player, some poses are used multiple times within the set. This Kelly card is one of two cards for him in the set (the other has him as a right fielder), which has scuffing, typical staining and well-rounded corners. PSA Graded AUTHENTIC.
