If it wasn't for a chronic sinus/eye ailment, George Sisler would be remembered next to Ty Cobb and Ted Williams as the greatest hitters to ever hold a bat. His 1922 season with the St. Louis Browns in which he hit an incredible .420 and led the AL in hits, stolen bases and triples may have been the greatest single-season performances in the history of the game. When the Hall of Fame was founded in 1939 Sisler was one of the first inductees.

Offered here is a bat dated to the 1922-25 seasons that was used by Sisler. This Hillerich & Bradsby pre model bat displays moderate game use and is un-cracked. The right and back barrel have several ball marks and ball stitch impressions, along with cleat impressions that are on the right barrel. According to the experts at PSA/DNA, this particular bat is approximately two inches shorter than previous bats on Sisler’s Professional Bat Ordering Record (PBOR) at Louisville Inc. during the reference labeling period of 1922-25. This bat’s weight of 41.2 ounces is consistent with bats Sisler ordered in 1923. PSA/DNA also notes that ordering records for Sisler as well as all other major league players are not available, so it’s possible that Sisler could have ordered a 34-inch bat in 1924. A stunning game used bat from one of the greatest hitters of baseball’s Golden Era and it comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B04533) and a LOA from MEARS (315965) for the game use. MEARS has graded this bat a solid A8.
