Joe Namath - “Broadway Joe” - “Joe Willie” or as legendary Alabama coach Paul “Bear” Bryant called him “the greatest athlete I ever coached”. No matter what you call him, Namath was a winner. During his three years at Alabama he led the Crimson Tide to a 29-4 record and the 1964 National Championship. He was the first overall player selected in the 1965 AFL draft and was the 1965 AFL Rookie of the Year. Two years later he became the first professional quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards in a 14 game season. In Super Bowl III, Joe led the Jets to a 16-7 victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts and was the MVP of the game.
