Before he was a 10-time All-Star with a pair of back to back MVP Awards and two World Series rings, Joe Morgan was just another young hopeful trying to make the majors. Morgan’s break came in 1963 when he joined the Houston Colt 45s in their second year of existence. Morgan got into eight games and batted a decent .250, not bad and it was a precursor to the hitting that would make him the engine behind Cincinnati’s Big Red Machine of the 1970’s. Morgan’s rookie year Hillerich & Bradsby O1 model bat shows light use and is un-cracked. A few ball marks are visible on the barrel along with a few small depressions on the left and back barrel. Green bat rack paint streaks can be seen and the model number “O1” is stamped into the knob. About as perfect a Joe Morgan rookie gamer as you could ask for. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13101) for the game use.
