On September 13th, 2011, Mariano Rivera became the second pitcher in MLB history to record 600 saves. The unanimous Hall of Famer closed out the Yankees 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field to record his milestone save. Rivera struck out Wily Mo Pena and Kyle Seager, with Ichiro Suzuki reaching on a single before being gunned down attempting to steal second base to end the game. This Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseball was used in the third inning, when AJ Burnett threw a pitch in the dirt to Miguel Olivo. Rivera has signed the sweet spot of this baseball in blue pen, inscribing “600th Save 9-13-11” below his signature.
