The great journeyman Gary Sheffield began his wandering ways when he was traded to the Padres in 1992. During that season Sheff had the chance to face his uncle, Mets pitcher Doc Gooden, when the Padres played New York - he went 1-for-3. Sheffield spent much of the summer of 1992 hitting in the Triple Crown region and finished the season with a .330 average and 33 homers. Sheff’s 1992 Louisville Slugger C243 model bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack and Sheff’s number “11” has been hand written on the knob in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B16666) for the game use and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9.5.
