Borrowing from the past, the 1948 London participation medal featured the same Bertram Mackennal design that was used on the obverse of the 1908 London medal. It depicts a quadriga with a driver and a judge ready to reward the winning athlete a victory palm. The reverse features a city view of London with the year and the Olympic rings. This bronze medal measures 51mm and was poduced by John Pinches, Ltd.
