Gary Sheffield was wrapping up his long career in 2009 when he signed with the New York Mets. In his two decades in the Majors he played for eight clubs, won a World Series, a batting championship and made nine All-Star teams – but he still wasn’t finished. On April 17 Sheffield connected for his 500th homer, only the 25th player in the history of the game to reach that mark. Sheffield’s 2009 Louisville Slugger R161 model bat displays outstanding use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks, blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs present on the barrel. The handle has a coating of Mota Stick and the lower handle and knob are heavily taped to enhance the grip. Sheffield’s number “10” is handwritten in silver marker on the top barrel and in black on the knob. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B17170) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10.
