The 1938 season was the last full year for the great Lou Gehrig and once again, the Iron Horse helped lead the Yankees to another World Series title, their third straight and seventh overall! While Gehrig was the veteran star, this team also included five other Hall of Famers including an in his prime Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey, Lefty Gomez, Joe Gordon and Earl Combs.

15 members of the 1938 World Series winning Yankees team, plus an additional signee have signed this Official American League William Harridge navy blue stamped baseball. Manager Joe McCarthy and Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig have signed their names on the sweet spot, a rare occurrence for Gehrig, who usually signs his name on a side panel. The north panel has the signatures of Spud Chandler, Myril Hoag, Ivy Andrews (signed “Paul Andrews”) and Hall of Famer Left Gomez. The east panel has the signatures of Hall of Famer Joe Gordon, Frank Crosetti, Tom Heinrich, Red Rolfe and Bill Knickerbocker.

The south panel has the signatures of Hall of Famer Red Ruffing (signed “Chas. Ruffing”), George Selkirk and Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio. There is an additional signature on the Reach panel signed by Stanley Hack, who was with the Chicago Cubs in 1938. The ball is in excellent condition, displaying only minor toning. The stampings are bold and the signatures, which have all been signed in black pen are light, but still readable. A wonderful multi-signed Yankees baseball from the last full season of Lou Gehrig. This baseball comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
