Offered is an inscription and signature of early Major League Baseball pitcher Mickey Welch in a 13 x 23-inch display with a black and white photograph of the Baseball Hall of Famer. Welch was the third pitcher to accumulate 300 career victories. He played 13 seasons in the major leagues, three with the Troy Trojans, and 10 with the New York Gothams/Giants. Welch was very successful with an effective curveball, a change of pace, and a version of the screwball. During his 13 major league seasons, he posted 20 or more wins nine times, seven in succession. Welch was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee in 1973.
Welch has inscribed “Smiling Mickey Welch New York Giants 1883 to 1892” in black pen on a 4 x 4-inch white cut. The inscription “Hawthorne, New Jersey” in black pen on a 1½ x 4-inch white cut accompanies the Welch signature and inscription. The display also features a 6 x 8-inch black & white posed photograph of Welch, shown from the right side in a baseball uniform, no cap, throwing a ball. The two signed cuts and the photograph are mounted in a navy-blue paper matte with brown and white borders, within a 13½ x 23-inch black and brown wood frame and glass. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
