Offered is a lot of 12 National Football League game programs, including nine Super Bowl game programs as well as the 1938, 1958 and 1959 NFL World Championship programs. The first item in this lot is the program for the 1938 NFL Championship contest between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers. The 7 x 10-inch white paper with blue ink program booklet has the photo of Giants center Mel Hein on the front cover for the December 11, 1938 game at the Polo Grounds in New York. The Giants won their second NFL championship with a 23-17 win over the Packers. The cover price was 10 cents. The second item in this lot is the program for the 1958 NFL Championship, “The Greatest Game Ever Played,” between the New York Giants and the Baltimore Colts at Yankee Stadium in New York. The 1958 National Football League Championship Game was the 26th NFL championship game, played on December 28 at Yankee Stadium in New York City. The first NFL playoff game to go into sudden death overtime, the December 28, 1958 game was won by the Colts 23-17. This game marked the beginning of the NFL's popularity surge, and eventual rise to the top of the United States sports market. A major reason was that the game was televised across the nation by NBC. Baltimore receiver Raymond Berry recorded 12 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown. His 12 receptions set a championship record that stood for 55 years. The cover price was 50 cents.

The third item in this lot is the program for the 1959 NFL Championship, played December 27, 1959 at Baltimore Memorial Stadium. A rematch of the 1958 championship game that went into overtime, this game also went down to the last quarter, but the Colts did not need any heroics in overtime. Trailing 9-7 at the start of the fourth quarter, Baltimore scored 24 straight points and won, 31–16. The cover price was 50 cents. The fourth item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl III, played January 12, 1969 at the Orange Bowl in Miami. The first NFL Championship game to be officially named the “Super Bowl,” it is best remembered for the 18-point underdog American Football League champion New York Jets defeating the National Football League champion Baltimore Colts 16–7. The cover price was $1.

The fifth item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl V, played January 17, 1971 at Miami’s Orange Bowl. The Baltimore Colts defeated the Dallas Cowboys 16–13 on a field goal as time expired. The cover price was $1.50. The sixth item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl XII, played January 15, 1978 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Denver Broncos 27–10 to win their second Super Bowl. The cover price was $2.50. The seventh item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl XIII, played January 21, 1979 at the Orange Bowl in Miami. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Dallas Cowboys, 35–31, in the fifth and last Super Bowl played at the Orange Bowl. The cover price was $2.50. The eighth item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl XIV, played January 20, 1980 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 31–19, becoming the first team to win four Super Bowls. The game was attended by a Super Bowl record 103,985 spectators. The cover price was $2.50.

The ninth item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl XVII, played January 30, 1983 at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl. The Washington Redskins defeated the Miami Dolphins 27–17 to win their first Super Bowl championship. The cover price was $4. The 10th item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl XXI, played January 25, 1987 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The New York Giants defeated the Denver Broncos, 39–20, for their first Super Bowl and first NFL title since 1956. The cover price was $5. The 11th item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl XXVII, played January 31, 1993 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Buffalo Bills 52–17, winning their third Super Bowl in team history, and their first one in 15 years. This game is tied with Super Bowl XXXVII as the third-highest scoring Super Bowl ever with 69 combined points. The Bills became the first team to lose three consecutive Super Bowls, and just the second team to play in three straight games. The cover price was $10. The 12th item in this lot is the program for Super Bowl XXV, when the New York Giants defeated the Buffalo Bills 20–19, winning their second Super Bowl. The game was played at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on January 27, 1991, during the time of the Gulf War. The cover price was $15.
