Offered is a unique collectible – the signatures of the 1996 World Series Champion New York Yankees team on a red, white and blue Huntington acoustic guitar. The 1996 New York Yankees finished first in the American League Eastern Division with a record of 92–70, 4 games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles and won their first division title since 1981. The team defeated the Texas Rangers in the American League Division Series, 3-1. The Yankees went on to defeat the Orioles in the American League Championship Series 4-1. In the 1996 World Series the Yankees beat the National League champion Atlanta Braves 4-2, winning four consecutive games to overcome a 2-0 deficit.
Notable signatures on the guitar include ’96 World Series MVP John Wetteland, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams and Hall of Famers Mariano Rivera and Wade Boggs. The wood and plastic guitar has the American flag painted across the front. The 31 Yankees players signatures are all in black marker across the guitar and the pick guard. Wetteland has signed his name on the white plastic pick guard and inscribed “WSMVP’96” below his signature. Wade Boggs has signed his name and inscribed “HOF05” below his signature. Other notable signatures include Yankees manager Joe Torre, coaches Willie Randolph and Mel Stottlemyre, Paul O’Neill, Charlie Hayes, Mariano Duncan, David Cone and Andy Pettitte.
