Under legendary coach Bear Bryant, the Alabama Crimson Tide finished the 1959 college football regular season with a record of 7-1-2, ranked 10th in the final poll. The Penn State Nittany Lions had a very successful season of their own, going 8-2 and finishing 12th in the polls. Those two programs would meet in the Liberty Bowl – played December 19, 1959 – where Penn State would prevail by a score of 7-0. That bowl game marked the first in coach Bryant’s storied Alabama career.

Presented here is a pair of 1959 Liberty Bowl gold cufflinks, which are designed in the shape of the Liberty Bell. The year 1959, in blue, is shown at the top of each bell, as they also proudly display “LIBERTY BOWL” along with an image of a football. The backs include the manufacturer mark along with “1/10 10K”, with the total weight for these pair of cufflinks being an approximate 10.3 grams.
