Uruguay stormed to the soccer gold medal at the 1924 Paris Olympics, winning all their matches in dominating fashion to set up a gold medal match against a competent Switzerland team. The European paper tigers proved no match for South America’s finest, as Uruguay put three past a helpless Swiss goaltender at Stade Olympique in Colombes, France. After winning gold, Uruguay embarked on the first-ever Olympic lap of honor, to this day still a beloved and unique Olympic tradition. This offered offset printing tin plate shows the Uruguay team on their lap of honor, waving to the crowd as they soak up much-deserved plaudits. This tin plate measures 6.75 x 4.5 inches and originates from the archives of Mundo Uruguayo. It is in good condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
