A dominant Uruguayan national soccer team stormed to victory in the 1928 Amsterdam Summer Olympics, defeating Argentina 3-2 on aggregate in an all-South American gold medal matchup. Pedro Petrone of Uruguay and Argentina’s Nolo Ferreira scored in the opening match, which finished a 1-1 draw after extra time. In the rematch three days later, Uruguay’s goals from Roberto Figueroa and Hector Scarone overcame Luis Monti’s 28th minute strike to hand Uruguay a second Olympic gold. This medal proof is bronze in color, with one side bearing a “1928 Olympic Concurrent Champions” logo. This one-of-a-kind medal proof is a fascinating piece of Olympic history! This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
