Uruguayan goalkeeper Andres “El Buzo” Mazali was awarded this pin after La Celeste claimed the 1928 Amsterdam Summer Olympics gold medal in soccer. The Uruguayans, champions of the 1924 Olympics, entered the 1928 tournament with high expectations. Uruguay delivered on the hype, defeating Italy 3-2 in the semifinals before dispatching fierce rivals Argentina in a two-legged Olympic final. This pin is circular, with a diameter of .5 inches and a fastener affixed to the back. The face of the pin shows a Uruguayan flag and a soccer ball, while “1924 – Campeones Olimpicos – 1928” is etched around the border of the pin. This item originates from the estate of Andres Mazali and is in good condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
