Despite being known as the greatest college football coach of all time, Knute Rockne was also a great teacher of future college coaches. At the time of his death in March, 1931, more than 200 men who played for Rockne while he was a coach at Notre Dame were in the coaching profession. 90 of these men were coaching at the college level, with 38 of them head coaches. Rockne was also part of several coaching schools, including one he partnered with the great Glenn “Pop” Warner. This approximate 8.5” x 11” certificate was issued by Southern Methodist University, who hosted the “Warner-Rockne coaching School.” One “W.E. Noah” completed all his required study and attended lectures. The certificate is signed boldly on the lower right “Glenn S. Warner” as Foot Ball Coach Leland Stanford University and “Knute Rockne” as Football Coach Notre Dame University. This certificate exhibits many folds and moderate staining along the edges, predominately along the right edge. None of these mentioned faults affect the dark, near perfect signatures but a few light wrinkles do cross through both first names, but do not affect any of the signature’s flow. Two of the greatest college coaching legends on one document relating to how they made their fame. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
