1998 and 1999 were “off” years for Tony Gwynn as he “only” managed to have seasons of .321 and .328. While those averages were below par for a great hitter as Gwynn, no doubt any other outfielder in the National League those summers would have given anything for those numbers. Gwynn’s 1998-99 Mizuno Pro Model bat shows tremendous use. Because of checking PSA/DNA has opined that this was probably a batting practice bat of Gwynn’s. The barrel is covered with ball marks with stitch impressions and white leather ball scuffs. The handle has been taped to enhance the grip and a light coat of pine tar applied. The knob has some faded markings, now illegible. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18045) for the game use.
