From 1885 until 1951, teams of barnstorming black (and to a lesser extent, Latin) baseball players competed against white All-Star teams and themselves. Begun by the Cuban Giants in 1885, the professional “Negro Leagues” expanded until the 1920s ushered in the golden era of the “Negro National League.” For 12 seasons, eight of which were culminated with Negro League World Series, the circuit prospered. MLB Hall of Famers Satchel Paige and Hank Aaron cut their teeth in the Negro Leagues, while standouts like Josh Gibson, Buck O’Neil, and Cool Papa Bell were too old to cross the color line after Jackie Robinson. The Felco Athletic Wear replica jersey is a size small, 3-button, gray flannel with blue piping and blue “Negro Leagues” stitched across the chest. More than 100 former Negro Leaguers have signed down the front in bold, black Sharpie. Signees include Monte Irvin, Buck Leonard, Josh Johnson, Ray Dandridge, Sam Taylor, Buck O’Neil, Lionel Hampton, Art “Superman” Pennington, Lester Lockett, Joe Scott, Billy Owens, Clinton “Casey” Jones, Mel Duncan, Andy Porter, “Double Duty” Radcliffe, Al Spearman, Pancho Gray “The Legend,” Max Manning, Rex Jones, and Ray Miller. Jersey comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
