Arthur Miller’s entertaining series “A Baseball Card That Never Was” returns to provide a thoroughly moving portrait of the deadball era star Shoeless Joe Jackson. This artwork is a mixed media on canvas. Specifically, the mixed media is acrylic enamel house paint, oil pastels and colored pencils and sealed with varnish. It portrays baseball’s most tragic figure as he might have appeared in the 1948 Leaf trading card series. Jackson is painted from the shoulders up, looking sharp in the White Sox pinstriped home uniform and cap in front of a green background. This canvas artwork measures 25 x 30 inches, with Miller’s signature located on the upper corner. This artwork is a fantastic display piece of Shoeless Joe Jackson, a deserved Hall of Famer.
