The 1958 season for the Dodger organization was both exciting and tragic. It was their first season on the west coast, playing in Los Angeles after their move from Brooklyn, but also tragic as their perennial MVP caliber catcher Roy Campanella career was cut short by a car accident which left him paralyzed. This accident and other issues left the Dodgers in the second division for the first time in almost two decades.
This offered baseball has been signed by 29 members of the 1958 Los Angeles Dodgers. Hall of Fame Manager Walter Alston signed his name on the sweet spot. Other signatures include Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale (clubhouse), Pee Wee Reese and Duke Snider; Gil Hodges, Don Demeter, Carl Esrkine, Ron Fairly, Art Fowler, Carl Furillo, Jim Gilliam, Dick Gray, Johnny Klippstein, Clem Labine, Norm Larker, Bob Lillis, Wally Moon, Joe Pignatano, Johnny Podres (clubhouse), Rip Repulski, Stan Williams, Charlie Dressen, Johnny Roseboro (clubhouse), Danny McDevitt, Charlie Neal (Clubhouse), Solly Drake, Don Zimmer (clubhouse) and Gene Snyder. All of the signatures have been signed in blue ink and this ball comes with a LOA from JSA.
