Willie Randolph was a standout player for the New York Yankees. A member of the 1977 and 1978 World Series-winning teams, Randolph was a steady presence at second base and at the plate. Randolph finished his career with 2,210 hits. Throughout his distinguished career, Randolph received many awards and in 1980, Randolph was presented with the Most Popular Yankee Award for the 1980 season. This award is on a 12 x 15-inch wood shield frame backing and has a 5 x 7-inch black plate with a gold plated raised scroll that has gold lettering that reads “MOST POPULAR YANKEE 1980 AWARD TO WILLIE RANDOLPH NEW YORK YANKEES INFIELDER VOTED BY THE YOUTH OF THE CON EDISON/NY YANKEES HALL OF FAME BASEBALL PROGRAM PRESENTED BY CONSOLIDATED EDISON COMPANY OF NY, INC. AUGUST 4, 1980.” This award comes from the collection of Willie Randolph and a signed LOA from Randolph will also accompany this item.
