The legendary footballer Jose Leandro Andrade was presented with this Longines pocket watch by the Asociacion Uruguaya de Futbol (AUF) after his Uruguay team captured the 1930 FIFA World Cup title in the heart of Montevideo. Andrade, a two-time Olympic champion in the 1920’s, played an exceptional tournament and was retroactively named the Bronze Ball winner as the third best player in the World Cup. His speed and technical ability on the wing were unmatched in his day, with the former carnival musician earning the nickname “The Black Marvel” in Paris thanks to his flair and tenacity. In the latter part of the 20th century, Andrade was ranked 29th on the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Football Player of the Century list.

This offered pocket watch features etchings of soccer scenes on both sides. The face of the watch is white, and the hours are displayed using Arabic numerals. Etched on the inside of the watch case is “A.U.de F. / -A- / Leandro Andrade / Campeon Mundial / 1930”. This incredible watch is one of the very few remaining pieces of memorabilia from the mysterious life of Jose Leandro Andrade. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
