Although their overall record was only 8-10, the 2001 Calgary Stampeders won three of their last four games, to finish in second place in the Canadian Football League’s West Division, qualifying for the postseason. The Stampeders then went on to run the table, beating the BC Lions and Edmonton Eskimos, before winning the Grey Cup with a 27-19 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Calgary was led by QB Marcus Crandell (3,407 passing yards), RB Kelvin Anderson (1,383 rushing yards) and receiver Travis Moore (76 receptions for 1,298 yards).

Presented here is an Intergold-manufactured 10K gold 2001 Calgary Stampeders CFL Grey Cup championship ring, featuring a team logo on a red colored football-shaped stone, surrounded by 78 points of genuine diamonds. “GREY CUP CHAMPIONS” reads in relief lettering. One side features an image of the Grey Cup next to “89th” (commemorating the game’s history), with “CALGARY STAMPEDERS” above and a CFL logo helmet below. Small red stones also adorn this side. A Calgary helmet centers the opposite side, among the teams, final score and year of the championship game. “DR. COTTON” (for player James “Doctor” Cotton, who recorded nine sacks in 2001) appears at the top with the number 99 at the bottom. The inside of the band is marked “IGO 10K”. This ring is an approximate size 14 and weighs approximately 50.2 grams. Also included is the original wooden presentation box with an engraved plate that reads “JAMES COTTON 2001 Grey Cup Champions Football”.
