Thanks in large part to the acquisition of ace pitcher Justin Verlander from the Detroit Tigers, the Houston Astros would win the franchise’s first ever World Series title. The Astros also became the first team to win pennants in both the American and National Leagues. The Astros took their first step in the World Series quest on September 17th, 2017 when they clinched the American League West Division title by knocking off the Seattle Mariners 7-1 at Minute Maid Park. While wearing this offered jersey, Verlander pitched seven dominant innings as he allowed only one run on three hits and striking out 10 Mariners to earn the win in the clinching game.
Verlander wore this Majestic Flex Base size 48 button-down navy Houston Astros alternate jersey during the AL West clinching victory on September 17th and this offered jersey has been photo matched to that clinching game. “ASTROS” is sewn on in orange and white tackle twill across the front and a “H STRONG” patch, which was added after the devasting effects of Hurricane Maria, is sewn on the upper left chest. The sides of this jersey pay homage to the 1970’s and 1980’s Tequila Sunrise jerseys with yellow, orange and red horizontal stripes in a mesh fabric. The Majestic tag is screen-printed on the bottom front left tail.
The back of this jersey has “VERLANDER” and “35” sewn on in orange and white tackle twill, with the plastic MLB logo patch in Astros colors sewn on the upper back neck. The left sleeve has the “HOUSTON ASTROS” circular logo patch and the Majestic logo embroidered in white. This jersey displays light game use and comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB906089), which authenticates that Verlander wore this jersey during the September 17th game and a photo match LOA from Resolution Photomatching (426199), who have conclusively photo matched this jersey to the September 17th division clinching game.
